To Minnesota
Bozak
JVR (50% retained)
Marincin
Borgman
2018 2nd (San Jose)

To Toronto
Koivu
Dumba

For Minnesota
They get a 1st line winger in JVR and Bozak is a legit 2nd line center.
Marincin provides bottom pairing depth (lol). Borgman could be a surprise or stay in the AHL for a year. This leaves the Wild with just under 2M in cap space.

This also puts them over the top this year and into an immediate contender.

For Toronto
Well Koivu will be a great mentor for whichever line he centers, but will not be resigned.

The obvious win here is Dumba.
A top four of Rielly-Dumba/Gardiner-Zaitsev is beautiful.
With depth players like Carrick, Hainsey and Rosen, and a couple young studs in Liljegren, Nielsen and Dermott

Minny would still need to sign JVR and Bozak the next yr. Definitely possibly but I think they would prefer to keep Dumba.

If they have moved on from him then sure by all means, send him over. Altho Bozie torched him pretty good last season, walk right around him:

You can see why slower defenseman, or hell even quick defenseman have issues containing him. He looks like the energizer bunny out there.

I'd say they offer Polak a 1 year deal if he's good to go.

Otherwise they're gonna have Hainsey kill off 8 mins of penalties a game on his own

The wild are pushing for a cup. Trading there captain who centres a very competitive line for two offensive yahoos with suspect defence doesn't really sound realistic. Then you expect them to include a dirt cheap controllable right handed power play quarterback for one unknown defenceman and another Toronto would like to unknow.

Bang on with addressing torontos needs but work backwards. It helps to think about what the other team would need when coming up with trades. Even fun hypothetical trades. Dumba is the real target for sure but coyle is more of an attainable target as far as centres go. Bozak and jvr anchoring the wilds third line while keeping there top two intact is very scary.

Bozak
jvr
Carrick

For

Ellis (cap dump)
Coyle
Dumba

Dump Ellis and fehr with any prospects necessary on vegas to clear the contract and cap situation.

I'd do that trade! But without the guarantee of Bozak or jvr resigning...unfortunately Minnesota would not! Imo,but I do agree with you that their forward group would look pretty dangerous! Getting a center back with dumba would be a great deal for the leafs tho, but picks and or prospects would have to be added on the leafs side, again ihmo interesting

He deserves a 1 year deal or at least a try out. He gave it his all for Toronto when they didn't seem ( at seasons start) to have a lot but to play for. Great leader, rugged and hard working.

agreed....he's earned it, and if a stay at home vet D is what Babs wants to compliment what we already have, a 1 year deal for Polak is def worth looking at.
